The Great White Egret has been observed only once in Central Siberia. The
nearest breeding areas are located in the southern Transbaikal region and in eastern
Kazakhstan, where it breeds near open water on lakes or along slow-moving rivers with
expansive beds of reed and rush thickets. During summer migration, however, the birds
regularly appear further north. In early June 1957, an adult female was collected near
Ugoyan on the upper reaches of the Podkammenaya Tunguska River (Syroechkovski 1959).
